402 the Designers PETER MALY After finishing his studies in interior design, Peter Maly became a member of the editorial team of a leading German magazine. Since 1970, he has headed one of the most successful German design studios with several staff. His design spectrum is vast and impressive, including collections of inter- national furniture, home accessories, and carpets. He has also designed exhibits, showrooms and retail concepts. Maly’s work is characterized by geometric shapes, exemplified by clean lines, functionality, and durability. Some of his designs have become modern classics. He has received numerous national and international awards, and his works have been showcased in several museum exhibits. CARSTEN GOLLNICK After co-founding his first design studio in 1990, Carsten Gollnick spent many years in Asia, then opened his own design studio in Berlin in 1997. Among the products he has developed for the high-end market are decor- ative accessories, lighting, writing implements, and he has created show- rooms and retail establishments for renowned German and international companies. His raison d’être is to emphasize the natural beauty and sensuality of an object, while making his designs both functional and aethestic. Many of the products he has created have won design awards and have been included in important collections.
