What does a typical day look like for you? I`m an early bird – I start the day with yoga and filter coffee. I`m usually the first to arrive at the design studio. Then I often have a tight schedule of meetings with suppliers, our marketing or sales team, or our management. Depending on the state of my current project, I work on new fabrics, refine colour ranges and qualities, or develop and elaborate designs and patterns. On Fridays, I often use remote working options to help me get through my to-do list. And, of course, I also travel a lot – whether to trade fairs, suppliers or photo shoots. It is very varied! What do you put your heart and soul into? I love the conceptual work on the collections, deciding when to use which theme, which colour schemes suit our bestsellers, and how to create a good balance between pattern designs and plain fabrics. And I love to immerse myself in colour palettes. This is what I’m passionate about, because fabrics primarily make an impact through their colours. Arranging the colours on a sample curtain or colour chart requires a lot of experience and intuition. I am also closely involved in our photo shoots – from developing the mood concept to implementing it with the team on the set. Why is it important today that decoration and furniture fabrics are not only beautiful but also functional? Because life is constantly changing and we all have our own personal preferences and needs. Fabrics should darken the bedroom, while in the family dining room they must be able to withstand a lot of wear and tear. Aesthetics are important, but so is functionality. Our collections offer additional functions with added value: flame-retardant and darkening properties, stain protection, acoustic and/or thermal effectiveness. Made-to-measure, they enhance your quality of life. Can you tell what materials a fabric is made of, even with your eyes closed? 10 to 15 years ago, I would have said “yes” without hesitation, but today I would rather say “no”. This is due to the incredible evolution of synthetic fibres, which imitate natural materials so well that they are almost indistin- guishable. High-quality, properly finished acrylic can feel like wool, while finely spun polyester can resemble silk. Even with 25 years of experience, I am sometimes astonished, and that`s okay. These advances bring enormous benefits in terms of durability and sustainability. Do you have a favourite fabric each season – and which would be your favourite for 2026? It‘s impossible to name just one fabric. I`ll try to limit myself to three. “Chamonix” is an embroidery using traditional Crewel technique, which is made in India. Its quality and feel are exceptional. “Danilo” is a new plain decoration fabric that I would not hesitate to use in our own home. The texture is absolutely wonderful. And the shadow velvet “Ravel”, where we have succeeded in creating a subtle meander design just with the pile direction. A luxurious, yet easy-care quality made in Germany – also an absolute highlight. Wie sieht ein typischer Tag von dir aus? Ich bin Frühaufsteher – und starte mit Yoga und Filterkaffee in den Tag. Im Designstudio bin ich meist der Erste. Danach folgen dicht getaktete Meetings: mit Lieferanten, dem Marketing- oder Vertriebsteam oder der Geschäftsfüh- rung. Je nach Projektstand arbeite ich an neuen Stoffen, verfeinere Farbreihen und Qualitäten oder entwickele Dessins weiter. Freitags nutze ich gerne das Flex Office, um konzentriert Aufgaben abzuarbeiten. Und natürlich bin ich auch viel unterwegs – ob auf Messen, bei Lieferanten oder bei Fotoproduktionen. Es ist sehr abwechslungsreich! Woran feilst du mit Energie und Leidenschaft? Ich liebe die konzeptionelle Arbeit an den Kollektionen, wann welches Thema gespielt wird, welche Farbwelten zu unseren Bestsellern passen und wie wir Dessins und Unis ausbalancieren. Und ich vertiefe mich in Farbpaletten. Da hängt mein Herz dran, denn Stoffe wirken in erster Linie über ihre Farbigkeit. So verlangt die Anordnung der Farben auf einem Musterschal oder einer Farb- karte viel Erfahrung und Gespür. Auch unsere Fotoproduktionen begleite ich intensiv – von der Mood-Entwicklung bis zur Umsetzung mit dem Team am Set. Warum ist es heute wichtig, dass Dekorations- und Möbelstoffe nicht nur schön, sondern auch funktional sind? Weil sich das Leben immer wieder ändert und wir alle ganz persönliche Vor- lieben und Bedürfnisse haben. Stoffe im Schlafzimmer müssen verdunkeln, im Familien-Esszimmer einiges aushalten. Ästhetik ist wichtig, die Funktionalität aber auch. Unsere Kollektionen bieten Zusatzfunktionen mit Mehrwert: Schwer- entflammbarkeit, Verdunkelung, Fleckschutz, akustische oder thermische Wirk- samkeit. Individuell konfektioniert schenken sie ein Plus an Lebensqualität. Spürst du auch mit geschlossenen Augen, aus welchen Materialien ein Stoff besteht? Vor zehn bis 15 Jahren hätte ich ohne Zögern „Ja“ gesagt, heute eher nicht. Das liegt an der unglaublichen Evolution der synthetischen Fasern, die täuschend echt Naturmaterialien imitieren. Hochwertiges und richtig ausgerüstetes Acryl kann sich wie Wolle anfühlen, ein fein gesponnener Polyester kommt an einen Seideneffekt heran. Selbst mit 25 Jahren Erfahrung bin ich manchmal überrascht, und das ist auch gut so. Denn diese Fortschritte bringen enorme Vorteile bei Langlebigkeit und Nachhaltigkeit. Hast du in jeder Saison einen Lieblingsstoff – und welcher ist dein Favorit für 2026? Nur einen Stoff zu nennen, ist unmöglich. Ich versuche, mich auf drei zu beschränken: „Chamonix“ eine Stickerei in traditioneller Crewel-Technik, die in Indien gefertigt wird. Qualität und Haptik sind außergewöhnlich. „Danilo“ ist ein neuer Uni-Dekorationsstoff, den ich sofort bei uns zuhause einsetzen würde. Die Textur ist ganz wunderbar. Mit dem Schatten-Velours „Ravel“ gelingt es uns, das Mäander-Dessin ganz subtil nur durch die Flor- richtung sichtbar zu machen. Eine luxuriöse und dabei pflegeleichte Qualität, Made in Germany – auch ein absolutes Highlight.
